letting go
Thursday, July 27th, 2006

I won’t tell you that letting go is easy, and you wouldn’t believe me if I did since you have tried it before, but I will tell you that sometimes it is the only way to truly have what you are holding onto. Until you let it go it is just a bird trapped in your rib cage and yearning for the open skies.

I know most times it seems like the last possible thing you would want to do when you have ahold of something that you think just might be great…is almost exactly what you want. True, it would be foolish to throw it away, but to let it go is to let it breathe, and breathe in a way that all things must in order to live. To let something go is just to recognize that although it is within your soul, it is not in your hands. You are not the one who has to “make” it happen, or crush it. You are a shepard of your dreams, and only the heartbeat and life blood of the universe can bring it into being.

It isn’t that we aren’t meant to help the universe give us what we are looking for. It is just that if we don’t loosen our grasp sometimes we won’t be able to look between our fingers and see if we are even holding onto what we think we are. We may just be holding on tightly to a handful of dust. We have to open if we want starlight to bless our way.

You see, not only does it release our energy to let go, it lets in all the support from the universe that wants to flow in. When we are holding on too strong…to our identity, our plans, outcomes, we don’t let in the magic as well.

We have a chance….a beautiful, golden, magnificent chance in this life to be brilliant. Not just smart but to shine without shrinking back and to leave a trail of color wherever we go, without apologizing for our rainbows. There will always be reasons to hold on, but like the body grows weary of clenching, the soul grows tired as well, and our true treasures and those dreams which are most meant to come true, will come into being when we make our efforts with faith and trust, and let the goddess and god do the rest. May all your dreams come true. Love, Jennifer
