We surrender or we resist.
We surrender to be born and we surrender to die. We do this in the physical and we do this on many levels at each moment of our lives.
We surrender to breathe. We surrender to breathe in, and we surrender to breathe out.
What has life been asking you to surrender? Choices? Projects? Relationships? Emotions? To surrender is not to sacrifice. To surrender is to give in to the most natural flow, whether or not rationality or fear pull in other directions. And when we have been far from the natural flow for long enough, we can barely tell the difference anymore.
Then? We breathe. As we breathe we loosen the control we have adjusted to. We allow. We think that we create what we want in life by forcing it into the stream of our path. Then one night we wake up in a fever or a cold sweat and realize that we can only make our prayers and then follow the bends in the river opening before us…and trust. Our prayers are sometimes answered in strange ways, but hold something in store for us we could never have imagined.
And when we decide to surrender we imagine our boat will crash through rapids, or drift into oblivion. We forget to close our eyes and let the current take us…to know that the current is infinite wisdom and all we must do is keep our intention and action in line on the great current of life.
What has most been troubling you? Make a space on a small alter and offer it to life to take care of and to show you a road you may not yet have seen. Feel yourself softening into the enveloping love of life. Breathe in. Breathe out.
