blue lotus 2

Like a small blue flame we can hold onto the tiniest of lights that still burns bright and hot in the wildest of storms. We live in the fierce, gentle, world of aching changes, and if we are lucky our storms are like my first rain in India, light blue in an otherwise orange and green world…or the rain I waited longest for in New Mexico, three months, and when it finally rained the earth opened up her sandy lips and drank in bliss…or the storm in the desert at Petra, just weeks ago now, sending us running under the carved temple roof from the sudden lightning.

These are the storms in which we find shelter in knowing that the wildness is safe and indeed affirming all that we know, and all that we know to be changing.

When I check into the cosmos I feel the storm that has been brewing for many months. I feel that we have already been in its deep waves and wake of thunder for some time now, but it came on without our hardly realizing it, and it will go just as soon. It is leaving even as I write this. When morning breaks and the sun reappears I think everything will look different…in fact what was up will be down and what was right may be wrong. We may find that what we know has changed entirely, and that we like what was washed away in the storm that didn’t get named this year.

Like the blue lotus we will find that what is now rare was once revered and abundant, and is returning in new form to re-invigorate our lives. Look for coming signs of a deeper spring.
