The Blue Lotus

blue lotus 2

Like a small blue flame we can hold onto the tiniest of lights that still burns bright and hot in the wildest of storms. We live in the fierce, gentle, world of aching changes, and if we are lucky our storms are like my first rain in India, light blue in an otherwise orange and green world…or the rain I waited longest for in New Mexico, three months, and when it finally rained the earth opened up her sandy lips and drank in bliss…or the storm in the desert at Petra, just weeks ago now, sending us running under the carved temple roof from the sudden lightning.

These are the storms in which we find shelter in knowing that the wildness is safe and indeed affirming all that we know, and all that we know to be changing.

When I check into the cosmos I feel the storm that has been brewing for many months. I feel that we have already been in its deep waves and wake of thunder for some time now, but it came on without our hardly realizing it, and it will go just as soon. It is leaving even as I write this. When morning breaks and the sun reappears I think everything will look different…in fact what was up will be down and what was right may be wrong. We may find that what we know has changed entirely, and that we like what was washed away in the storm that didn’t get named this year.

Like the blue lotus we will find that what is now rare was once revered and abundant, and is returning in new form to re-invigorate our lives. Look for coming signs of a deeper spring.

Letter from Egypt

A new moon is waiting to emerge in just a few hours, and in its spirit I am writing you all while drifting up the nile in Egypt.

My heart is full with the beauty and bittersweetness of this life on this trip. I feel the wings of Isis etherically embracing me at all times, and then I see her work in the densest of examples of this physical reality. It is this bridge between energy and form which is so needed for so many of us. This bridge of radical trust. The lifeline to restoration of hope and love in challenging times.

Isis calls this bridge the “bridge of gold” and the gold represents the understanding that the love and energy we experience in the unseen does have a translation into form. It can be hard to feel this, since there seems to be such a disparagingly painful space between heaven and earth…and yet it is truly in the feeling that the understanding comes and that the unity between the two is experienced in earthly bliss.

Life and death are flashing in and out of our every breath, and for every fall there are hands to catch us. Sometimes we have to hit hard to rearrange ourselves, but the hands are there to help us come into a new whole, as Isis was there to bring Osiris back together for resurrection and healing.

Our bones are the soil of this earth, our blood the waters of this nile and the seas we all drift in from life to death and back again. The “hands” that come to help us are everywhere…if you have been praying for a long time without feeling an answer, keep praying. The answer always comes. It is the patience and the trust that are hard to sustain in the most painful of moments, and yet they are the meal we grind from our own hearts to make the nuturing bread for our souls.

We are waiting to hear that familiar song…the one we heard before we came here and the one we hear when things are very, very quiet within. When the sweetness rises above the sorrow like the lotus opening her perfect pink grace to the sun.

From here I send you the power and the beauty of the lotus, the bridge of gold, the warm wings of Isis, and my own dear love. May you be blessed deeply and touched sweetly by these blessings. Love, Jennifer
